The area was broad, between Airport Park (Earthquake Park?) and the Anchorage Port. We reached out to a Scout (N419DM - BL8) 5 miles north to see if he could assist in locating this aircraft. Reports through dispatch continued for approximately 30 minutes while the Scout continued to search. Finally the report came in that the witness said "it could have been a UFO". At this point Safety Dispatch and Scout 9DM discontinued the search. 4/13/2013 2013-FQ3 2013 ZME-M-2013/04/12-0002 Eastern ZME TN 35-04-00.3200N 089-57-30.3200W Public inquiry or concern (including all pilot reported NMACs) NO NO ASQ6064 initially reported a UFO sighting and "crazy lights" 50 northeast of MEM on a 015 heading, altitude unknown. AWE1669, who was also in the vicinity, reported seeing mainly yellow lights, near HOP AFB. This was later determined that HOP R3702 A/B was active with live firing. The FAA's release of these reports provides a glimpse into the agency's handling of UFO sightings and near misses. The reports detail various incidents, including a possible UFO sighting near a commercial airliner, and a report of a UFO by a pilot who was being followed by an unidentified object. This is what the public record looks like at its most ordinary. For more information, visit storyflo.com.
