This letter is in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request which was received by our office on 4/15/2024, in which you requested: I respectfully request a copy of records (which includes videos/photos), electronic or otherwise, of all records that pertain to your agency's policy and procedure on sharing information with the DoD's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). We were unable to locate records that are responsive to your request. However, we do have previously released records containing correspondence associated with AARO and/or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF). You can have access to them and they are attached for convenience. Your request is complete. You have the right to file an administrative appeal if you are not satisfied with our response to your FOIA request. All appeals should include a statement of the reasons why you believe the FOIA response was not satisfactory. We also have a series of email exchanges between NOAA personnel and representatives from the Navy and AARO. On April 26, 2023, Michael J. Rabasco of the Navy sent an email to Daniel Brewer of NOAA, inviting him to a meeting at the NWS Sterling Field Support Center on May 4, 2023. Additionally, on April 21, 2022, the Navy sent an email to Daniel Brewer, inviting him to a meeting at the NWS Sterling Field Support Center. There is also an email exchange regarding amateur ballooning and its potential impact on UAP investigations. The Office of Government Information Services (OGIS), an office created within the National Archives and Records Administration, offers free mediation services to FOIA requesters. They may be contacted in any of the following ways: Office of Government Information Services National Archives and Records Administration Room 2510 8601 Adelphi Road College Park, MD 20740-6001 Email: ogis@nara.gov Phone: 301-837-1996 Fax: 301-837-0348 Toll-free: 1-877-684-6448
If you have questions regarding this correspondence, please contact us at foia@noaa.gov or the NOAA FOIA Public Liaison Tony LaVoi at (843) 834-3516.
