A few quick strokes of the right brow pencil can completely change the way your face looks. This dual-ended favorite helps shape, define, and fill sparse areas for naturally fuller-looking brows without requiring expert-level skills. The fine-tip pencil creates realistic hair-like strokes, while the spoolie brush blends everything together for a soft finish. Damaged nails often need a little extra help. This strengthening treatment doubles as a subtle nail tint, helping conceal discoloration, ridges, and rough texture while giving nails a naturally healthy-looking sheen. The nourishing formula is designed to support brittle, weakened nails, making them appear smoother and stronger over time. Wear a single coat for a sheer, barely-there manicure or build it up for more coverage. A great skin-care routine doesn’t have to involve a dozen complicated steps.
Timea is a name that’s been around for a while, and it still feels bright and sturdy. It’s most common today in Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, where you’ll hear it pronounced either tee‑MAY‑uh or TEE‑meh‑aw.
The name got a big boost from Hungarian novelist Mór Jókai, who used it in his 1872 book Az Arany Ember. He may have been inspired by the Greek word euthymia, which is linked to the goddess of joy, so the name can suggest “good spirits” or “cheerful.”
Other possible roots point to the Greek “timaeus,” meaning “to honor,” or to “Timothea,” which carries a sense of “honoring God.” Some think Jókai simply revived an old classical name like Timaea, a Spartan queen.
All in all, Timea blends a touch of ancient Greek meaning with a modern, sunny vibe in Central Europe.
On Monday I published a post over on the blog that took me no less than 25 hours to write about how I use (and don’t use) AI at my company (both systems and design programs). I’ve copied the whole thing at the end of this post for those who don’t want to click out of substack. It’s a nuanced, long read from a female business owners perspective, but I was so happy to see that there is at least one subject on the planet that most people can agree on right now. Somehow AI hasn’t yet become ‘politicized’ (as in a right or left issue like everything else seems to be). Similar to how kids + social media = bad, most people agree that while AI is here to stay (and helpful in some fields) came too fast and too unregulated (and as of now just isn’t that helpful). My process on these larger posts takes so long because I usually have so much to say, so I brain-dump it all into 15 pages (in the form of a rant). Then while suffering through my own redundancies I can start to see the through-lines to create an actual thesis. The process of writing it made my feelings more clear to me. Which, ironically, is one the main reasons why we haven’t adopted more AI in my company (the process of thinking and writing is the most important part). So while Brian and I are on our family vacation (California dude ranch with his parents) I thought I’d surface some of the best reader comments from the post. At the end I ask for examples from real people on how they are using AI in a way that truly benefits them (not just the promise of making life easier, while oddly making our day to day more complicated).
Julia’s favorite picks feel like little, hand‑picked treasures. First, she’s raving about *Beit Trad*, a beautifully bound book that blends Lebanese recipes with stories of hospitality from a mountain guest house. It’s part cookbook, part memoir, and it’s meant to inspire cozy gatherings.
She’s also found a simple winter ritual with a Wilson and Dorset hot‑water bottle made of New Zealand sheepskin. Warming the bottle before tucking her baby in keeps the cot snug, and she gets to enjoy the gentle heat herself.
For a quick pick‑me‑up, she swears by dates stuffed with nut butter, dipped in melted chocolate, sprinkled with flaky salt, and frozen. She’s been tweaking the recipe, but the basic idea stays a beloved snack for the whole family.
Lastly, she’s fallen for a sturdy weekender bag from Gabriele Frantzen at Lee Mathews—perfect for beach trips, markets, or everyday errands. And she’s been following Sam Youkilis’s iPhone photography, which offers a calm, Italian‑inspired escape. All of these little joys are shaping her daily routine right now.
Scotland has a new Number 1 girl name. Freya is a long-term favourite in Britain, but this is the first time it’s taken the top spot in any of the home nations. Noah maintains the title for boys. (Also, see popularity changes in Scotland over here.) * It’s tempting to judge parents who give their children highly-themed names. But look a little deeper, and the intention behind them is pretty meaningful — as with these siblings named Nevada, Montana, Indiana, Arizona, Missouri and Dakota.
